Blog #13 Grade yourself......

Senior Project has taught me alot. At first I was not quite sure about staying at davidson and going on with the senior project, because the class before mine made it seem like it was the most stressful thing on this planet but I see that it was not that stressful. My overall grade for senior project would be a 100 because all the times I felt like I was not gone be able to make it through it I did. There were plenty of students that kept saying o I'm leaving davidson because I heard their senior project was no joke but I realized to myself this is just going to help better my self for college but also cant get that through another person head. At this moment I really can not think of any negative times about senior project, because it just all help me to become better at things I did not how to do. I would love to give thanks to the teacher who help me get through it all Miss Hoeb. She help to ease your mind and get back on track with what your lacking on, and I would also like to thank the other staff members who helped out with senior project that made me more comfortable with what I was doing.

Blog #11 How do you feel your dress rehearsal went?...

I feel my dress rehearsal went well, I could have done better with my business casual look, but I can always inprove that on the next presentation. Before board night I would like to improve on my presentation. I was not as focused as I should have been as by looking at my audience more, but overall I think I did an excellent job with my presentation. My fears of board, at this moment I dont think that I really have fears for board night. I have practiced my speech so much that I will do more than fine for board night, and besides public speaking is something that I want to overcome. My expectations for board night is to go up there and do my best. I want to be able to step in front of those judges and make them believe I am a public speaker. I am going to get in front of the judges and say my speech like I know everything my heart. That will make not. only me feel good about myself but also the judges and Miss. Hoeb.

Write a letter to a friend who is going into Senior Project next semester

Dear, Chong Tran
                      I would like to tell you things about Senior Project and what you should be aware of, first off make sure that you keep your assignments organized. Make sure that you do not fall behind, get all of your assignments turned in on time. Another please never procrasinate because that knocks you off your feet. Do not play around and make sure you do not miss over 3 days because then you will also get off track. Stay on your teachers good side. Also do not stress yourself you will do fine.
                     My advice to you is, keep focus at all time. Senior project is a piece of cake all you have to do is believe. You can do anything you put your mind and heart into. Mrs Hoeb and Mrs Shantazio a awesome teachers. They will take their time to work with you with anything you need help with. One advice to you, DO YOUR BEST!!!!

Describe in detail what you did during community service

During my community service, I helped tutor the kids after school at Taylor Park. I also help with putting pictures up across the classroom. I also helped the kids on the computer during their computer time with the other teachers. This service relate to my issue because during my time at the community service I have heard parents yell and call their children out their name. So when I am around the child I tend to try and help them have the best time they can have before they leave and go home because there is no telling what goes on then. Yes I would love to continue with my community service. I have grown to get to know the kids and the other teachers. I enjoy my time at Taylor Park with the kids, they are smart brilliant children. I also told my mentor Sylvia Bettis that even after senior project she can give me a call anytime she need me to come up there and help out with the children.

What have been the positive and negative aspects of your community services?

The negative aspect of my community service is that most of the parents living next to the program does not take advantage of the program by bringing their child after school to do there homework. Instead they would rather their children to change out of school uniform and out to play. The positive of my community service is that all the children love to learn about their school work they are thrilled to doing their projects. Everyday I get there their happy to see me and they tell me the grades they get on their projects that I helped them with. Being with the kids every other day makes me excited, it lets me know that I am doing something that is very helpful to the community. After community service I still plan to go up there every now and then to help out with the kids and the community.

Have you ever given a presentation as long as your midterm speech before?

No, I have never given any kind of presentation as big as the Senior Project presentation. My personal challenges with this presentation are that while giving this speech I am going to be so nervous that I am going to literally freeze, not knowing what to say or where I stopped. Another thing that is going to be challenge for me is that I will start to studder in front of the judges, and I do not want that to happen. I want a perfectly spoken speech; I want to be as confident as the judges. I think I can improve my presentation by constantly practicing days before the presentation night. I will have family members come over and judge upon my speech and time me. This presentation will help me in the future with other upcoming presentations during college. I do not think my stage fright will be as bad as now, and I will look back and remember the day that I did senior project and say I can do it. That is how this presentation will help me.

Describe some of the learning strecthes you have experinced

I have experinced a lot of learning strecthes this school year. I never thought that I would be helping the community with something. It has also taught me alot about my self because now I can believe that I can do anything. I also feel much better about myself just knowing that I am helping out with children that need the help it puts a big smile on my face. I can know say I am participating in a program that I always dreamt of participating in, working with children. I love working with kids and that is because I love kids they make me feel passionate about myself. I would not trade my community service for another. Working with kids is the best experince ever.

Choose three ideas you have brainstormed for your product and briefly explain them.

I plan to start a toy drive for the kids of the Mckieme Place with my church are the people fom the McKieme place
I also have another plan of sending toys and coloring books to the McKieme place for the children and I also go by doing that with my church Forest Hill Baptist

Last but not least I plan to want to take some of the kids at my community service at taylor park to go to the musuem one they and I want to go by doing that with my mentor

                                     Why Would I Like to Volunteer at one of These Locations?

The reason why I would like to work at one of these locations is because I would love to help any hurt one at any time and i also like dealing with kids. I want to put a smile on the kids faces, women's, and the employee's of the destination. I am a very kind loving person so helping and donating would not be a problem to me. I plan to go to the one of these programs and make do my best. I want to read with the kids play fun games with them and have a joyful time. I would like to talk to any abused woman and to just hear about her story, give her a great big hug and tell her everything is going to be OK never give up because god will never give up on you have faith and believe.

What do you want to be when you grow up and why?

When I grow up I want to be a pediatric nurse and the reason for that is I like to help others and especially little kids and babies. Being a nurse has always been part of my dreams. But thats not the only thing I want to be, I also want to be a detective. The reason for that is, I like to investigate in homicide crimes, and interrogate the criminals and set justice for the family. But most of all I will love to work with the babies in the NICU. I love caring for the sick and hoping for them to become better. So which ever one of these careers I am set at I would be happy. Another things is, its not really about how much money your making its about doing what you love.

What are your expectations and goals in completing senior project?

My goals in senior project are to complete this course with an smile and with better knowdledge in my career field just to say I did it. What I expect of senior project are challenges, challenges that makes you sort of nervous at times but I also expect my self to be capable of handing in my work on time at all times. Another goal that I would like to complete in senior project would be the research on my topic, I want to have enough information to make my presentation be as interesting as possible, I would love to stand in front of the people that would be judging on my presentation and I want them to be able to look at me with a smile which would make me comfortable with my presentation. I hope by the end of this course I would be able to present any presentations with out any hard feelings on what people would say. I think this senior project would give me pride in what I want to do.
